The Padan foredeep and satellite basins in Northwestern extensions of the Adriatic Sea are another place to study the outcomes of shell transport. Successions are much younger here and the best shell beds are from the uppermost Pliocene and the lower Pleistocene. These cover a full range of taphonomic types, from biogenic to sedimentological concentrations (Dominici 2001). The second type is particularly interesting because the limited, but
repeated variety of associated sedimentary structures allows a better
understanding of the processes responsable of the lateral displacement
(Dominici 2004).
